Gamera! by killigann Gamera! by killigann
Been on a bit of a Gamera kick recently, so I drew this up in celebration of that. Fire-breathing turtles need love too! This may or may not be turning into a series…

I hope it becomes a series, because your take on Kaiju are gorgeous and fun, and I'm tempted to throw in some named suggestions for future entries. I'm a huge Kaiju and giant monster fan by-the-by.

And although not as good as your Gamera illustration seen here, it did inspire me to doodle this fellow out:

Haha, that's awesome! The spiky mohawk is killer. Thanks for your comment and artwork. I'll defs return to giant monsters when the time is ripe.

Also, I would LOVE some suggestions, I can only name a handful of Kaiju off the top of my head...

I'm going to do my best and NOT open the proverbial can of worms, and try to limit my suggestions to fairly well known Kaiju who happen to be reptilian or dinosaurian in form, which is of course your strong suit. Personality filled dinosaur cartoons rule!

Gomora - horned burrowing dinosaur from "Ultraman" who later became a full fledged hero and even had two spin-off series dubbed "Ultra Galaxy": www.clubdesmonstres.com/best/h…

Leatherback and Otachi - Arguably the two most popular Kaiju from "Pacific Rim", especially considering the unofficial fan shipping (romantic pairing) that fans have been doing around here. 'Where else did the Baby Kaiju come from!?!?!' they all tell me.

Gorosaurus - You might dig this cult character, who was a giant theropod(?) dinosaur originally from "King Kong Escapes" and was a direct homage to the T-rex battle in the 1933 original. Shortly afterwards, Gorosaurs was drafted into "Destroy All Monsters", kind of stealing the show with his kangaroo kicks: www.clubdesmonstres.com/gorosa…

Seebozu - Seebozu is basically a ghost from the Ultra Zone, which is sort of the cosmic afterlife for most giant monsters seen in "Ultraman". He falls to Earth after an experimental rocket crashes into him, and he becomes a homesick nuisance while stuck here. Ultraman and his Science Patrol friends try to help Seebozu return home: www.clubdesmonstres.com/best/h…

I have way more if you want them...because I'm a dork that way. :)

Very cool style, I like how the lines are rough, yet still purposeful

Cute expression on his face too!

Pretty neat actually. I like the look. Fits him pretty good. I actually just watch the Viras flick today for some reason. Just some background noise while I inked a drawing.

Yeah, it is like nails on a chalkboard I will admit. Though I like the guy honestly. I love the way his ship works and I like the human costumes. Yeah sure they are not very "future or outer space looking", but they are simple and get the point across. Not to mention those glowing eyes of the humans when they are in the dark *shiver* Creepy :D

The letters are just "Gamera" (I copied them from an old Gamera film poster tinyurl.com/kwopzlc). I hope they work though... my Japanese lettering is amateurish at best, haha.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't know ´cause I never had any Japanese.

But that poster looks awesome though! Of course as well as the artwork; I love pencil sketches like these. Drawing with pencil and paper just has something that digital will never have~

Haha! Indeed, turtles are just cute in general. Fire-breathing or not :b
